Getting Married on a Cruise Ship

Getting Married on a Cruise Ship

A dream wedding at sea in some exotic location - if this sounds like your dream, it is within your grasp when you take a cruise and get married at the same time. Choosing to have your wedding while on a cruise ship takes care of the hardest parts of planning the event.

You only have to make sure you have the clothing you both want to wear, the rings and your bouquet. The cruise ship agency will take care of the rest of the details for you. You will have everything you need from the cuisine, the decorations, the music, drinks and of course the romantic setting of your dreams.

A wedding aboard a cruise ship is a very romantic and memorable event, and most cruise lines will help you plan every detail. You could have the beautiful waters of the Caribbean as the backdrop for your special day.  On some cruise lines, the Captain may even marry you. What could be more romantic than getting married by a waterfall in Jamaica, on a magnificent tropical beach in Aruba, or even on a glacier in Alaska! And beautiful Tahiti has been repeatedly voted the most romantic wedding honeymoon destination.  But there are many romantic destinations that will create a lifetime of wonderful memories.

If you prefer to get married on shore, you have to make sure you have the proper documents in place to get married in that country. On board the cruise ship, the captain can perform the ceremony but you have to be in port or no more than three miles from land for the marriage certificate to be legal.

Making your reservations through a cruise line will cut down on some of the red tape that you have to go through when getting married in another country. Most cruise agents are very experienced in planning such events and know exactly what needs to be done. Some of the cruise ships, such as those from the Carnival and Princess lines, have a chapel on board for the wedding ceremony.

You can save money by having your wedding on board a cruise ship. There are many wedding packages available for you to choose from,  All you have to do is choose the features you want to have included on your wedding day. The wedding coordinators of the cruise lines will make all the arrangements, even including the cake and photographer. You’ll receive an album of photos of your special day to take home with you.

You may want to have your family and friends with you for the wedding ceremony.  But quite often it is not possible for most of them to take the cruise with you. Well you don’t have to worry about this part of the wedding either.

You can arrange to have the wedding on the cruise ship a few hours before the scheduled departure time. You and your guests will be on the ship for the ceremony and the reception. Then when it is time for the other passengers to board, your guests will leave and you can set sail on the honeymoon of your dreams.
